KOCHI: The Ernakulam District Residents’ Association Apex Council (EDRAAC) has requested its members to join the drive against spread of contagious diseases like dengue. A press release issued by P.K. Gopalakrishnan, general secretary, EDRAAC, said the drive follows reports of high mosquito density near Ernakulam General Hospital, Edappally, Pachalam, Vaduthala, Elamakkara and Thevara regions. Association inauguratedResidents should take the initiative in garbage clearing and the Corporation can extend all support possible for this, said Mercy Williams, Mayor. She was speaking after inaugurating the Kaloor North Residents Association at Pavakulam here. President of the Association K. Mohammed presided. Cherian Kuriakose, Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate; Prasad, Health Inspector, Kochi Corporation; and Dr. Elizabeth Ninan spoke. Buckets were distributed for members of the association for segregation of bio-degradable waste. Petition filedThe South Kaloor Residents’ Association has filed a memorandum to the Greater Cochin Development Authority (GCDA) chairperson to take up the repair of Kaloor-Kadavanthra Road. Tar patchingA press release issued by the association said that M.C. Josephine, Chairperson, GCDA, assured association representatives that metal tar patching would be done before the festival at Francis Xavier Church, Kaloor and re-tarring would resume after December 20. The Association president T.H. Badarudeen, secretary T.P. Satyapalan, joint secretary George Mathew, the treasurer K.S. Prakash and Corporation councillor K.V.
