Bangalore: The Indian Institute of Astrophysics is organising an international seminar from December 2 to 5 here to commemorate the 100th year of the discovery of Evershed Effect. The Evershed Effect, named after British astronomer John Evershed, is radial outflow of solar plasma in sunspots parallel to the solar surface with a velocity of about 2 km per second. — Staff Reporter
