Trivedi stars in Gujarat’s win

Chennai: Paceman Siddharth Trivedi claimed five for 43 as Gujarat scored a ten-wicket win over Punjab in their Ranji Trophy Super League match in Ahmedabad on Monday.

Punjab was bundled out for 192 in its second innings on day three. Only wicket-keeper batsman Uday Kaul (56 not out) offered a measure of resistance. Gujarat reached its target of 30 without losing a wicket to gain the bonus point awarded to an innings or a ten-wicket win.

The in-form Saurashtra outplayed Rajasthan by an innings and 74 runs at Rajkot.

Off-spinner Kamlesh Makwana and left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja took four and three wickets respectively as Rajasthan was dismissed for 185 in its first innings. The side, following on, fared worse to be skittled out for 85.

Makwana picked up four wickets again.

Chawla scalps five

Leg-spinner Piyush Chawla’s five for 33 enabled Uttar Pradesh gain a 146-run first innings lead over Railways in Delhi. The experienced Yere Gaud (78 not out) put up a fight but received little support as his team was bowled out for 200.
