KOZHIKODE: Prasanthi School for children with special needs at Karaparamba has won the Social Welfare Department’s award for the best school for 2007 in the category. The award will be presented by Health and Social Welfare Minister P.K. Sreemathy at a function to be held in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday as part of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. Prasanthi School is getting the award for the second consecutive year. The school is managed by the Navajyothi Charitable Trust, a non-governmental organisation. The school gives training to about 100 children, managing trustee Ramakrishnan Palat said. The trust also manages the Prasanthi Rotary Centre for children with autism and related disorders, Prasanthi School for Slow Learners and the Prasanthi play school for children with developmental delay. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
