College student dies

TIRUNELVELI: A college student allegedly committed suicide on Tuesday in her hostel room.

Police said S. Deepa (21) of Moongiladi near Kalakkad in the district and a first year student of a women’s college at Perumalpuram, was reportedly suffering from severe stomach pain since Monday night. Consequently, she stayed back in her room in the hostel even as her friends attended classes.

When one of her friends came to the hostel shortly after the classes commenced, she found Deepa had hanged herself. Based on the complaint filed by Principal Ida Joseph, a case has been registered.
