RKS Kalvi Nilayam coasts into the final

Coimbatore: R.K.S. Kalvi Nilayam coasted to a comfortable four-wicket win over Jayendra Saraswathi MHSS and entered the final of the CDCA under-16 inter-school cricket tournament for the T.S.S. & Co. Trophy at the TNAU grounds here on Tuesday.

The scores (Semifinals): Jayendra Saraswathi 124 for seven in 25 overs lost to RKS Kalvi Nilayam 127 for six in 20.4 overs (Vishnu 54).

Sangavi makes merry

Sangavi of Kikani MHSS clinched the girls’ under-16 and under-19 singles and doubles titles in the 18th annual district level badminton tournament, sponsored by Rotary Clubs of Coimbatore South, Satellite and Midtown, recently.

Maiden title for Chetan

At Erode, upcoming youngster Chetan defeated the experienced S. Surendran 4-3 in a thrilling black ball finish in the deciding frame and clinched his maiden title in the sixth district ranking snooker tournament at the S.S. Sports Academy on Monday.

State champion Prem Prakash gave away the prizes.

Tiruchi bags title

Tiruchi Sports Hostel bagged the under-19 and U-17 titles at the inter-sports hostels and sports schools volleyball tournament in Tiruchi on Tuesday. Madurai finished runners-up in both the categories.

Holy Cross GHSS wins

Holy Cross Girls HSS defeated Railway Mixed High School 1-0 to win the hockey title at the district-level inter-school tournaments for girls, conducted by the Tiruchi-unit of Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu, here on Tuesday.

Football (final): Methodist Girls HSS bt Methodist Middle School 1-0.
