Dreaded criminal held

CUTTACK: The city police on Tuesday arrested and forwarded to court a dreaded criminal who was apprehended on Monday evening from College square area where he was moving suspiciously. Police have recovered a revolver and some live bullets from his possession.

Police said S. Bharat, a 29-year-old youth from Tinikonia Bagicha of the city was wanted in at least four robbery cases by the city police and also in a dacoity and bombing case by Dhenkanal police. Bharat and his associates had committed a dacoity in Kamakhyanagar area of Dhenkanal in October 2007. Later he also escaped during a police raid at his hideout by hurling bombs at the police party, said Malgodown police inspector P K Rath.
