High Court orders new merit list

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Tuesday directed the Court administration to prepare another merit list of candidates who had obtained 60 per cent marks out of the reduced maximum marks and declare them successful in this year’s Delhi Judicial Service Preliminary Examination.

A Division Bench of the Court comprising Justice Vikramjit Sen and Justice P.K. Bhasin passed the direction on a bunch of petitions by unsuccessful candidates in the examination, submitting that several questions asked in the test were out of syllabus.

Allowing their plea, the Bench asked the High Court administration to delete as many as 21 questions from the question paper, prepare a second merit list thereafter, and declare successful those candidates who had obtained 102 marks out the reduced maximum marks of 171.

Marks reduced

The preliminary examination is of 200 marks. But the High Court reduced the maximum marks to 171 following deletion of out-of-syllabus questions from the question paper. The Court also clarified that the examination scheduled for December 21 and 22 would be held as per the programme.
