Sit-in protest staged

Tirupur: Ministerial and subordinate staff of Tamilnadu Khadi and Village Industries Board staged a ‘sit-in’ protest at their office here on Tuesday.

They urged the State Government to clear the entire dearness allowance arrears pending from July 1, 2007, without any delay.

The workforce criticized the government for non-disbursal of festival bonus to them, despite making repeated representations to the authorities concerned.

The staff should be given a proportional salary increase in order to commensurate with the increase that had been awarded to the wages of Central Government employees following recommendations of the pay commission.
