RTC bus knocks down student

An APSRTC bus knocked down a first-year engineering student at Yacharam on city outskirts as he was walking across the road to reach his Nexus College of Science and Technology after getting down a bus on Tuesday morning. Death was instant for Tirumal, 20, who sustained serious head injury, the police said.

Hanumantha Rao, driver of the Podili depot bus, surrendered before the Yacharam police after the accident. Originally from Nizamabad, Tirumal used to live in a rented house along with younger brother Vinod, studying Intermediate, and mother Sulochana, housewife.

His father works in Mascat.

Lineman falls to death

Uma Maheswar Rao, 28, a junior lineman, died after accidentally slipping atop an electric pole while checking power supply position on Tuesday at Banjara Hills.
