Children’s carnival at Polio Home

A host of programmes mark International Day of Persons with Disabilities.


Thiruvananthapuram: It was carnival time for the children at the Centre for Rehabilitation of the Disabled (formerly Polio Home) here on Wednesday.

A Children’s Carnival was organised at the centre in connection with the observance of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The function was hosted by the Kshema Social Circle of the State Bank of Travancore, Zonal circle.

The day was marked by a host of programmes including a magic show by J.P. Entertainers of Magical Science (JEMS), a musical programme, indoor games and painting competition.

A crafts exhibition, computer games, jumble sale, food stalls and sale of old books lent colour to the event.

The proceeds of the carnival will go to the Polio Home.

Deputy general manager, SBT, N. Raghavendra inaugurated the programmes and distributed walking aid and prizes for the winners of competitions.

Assistant general manager, SBT, V. Prabhakaran Nair, Community Services banking manager K. Padmanabha Bhat, former leader of Kshema Social Circle K. Mahadevan and honorary director of the Centre for Rehabilitation of the Disabled Helen Azariah were present on the occasion, along with employees of SBT and their children.
