Kozhikode: The Kozhikode Second Fast Track Court has sentenced a man and his parents to one year rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs.5,000 each for physically and mentally torturing his wife for dowry. Judge Thomas Kurian found the first accused A. Thajudeen, his father K. The accused had demanded more money from the victim, P. Hayrunnisa, even though they had already taken 45 sovereigns of gold and Rs.1.5 lakh from her.

Hayrunnisa and Thajudeen were married in 2004. The victim had complained against her husband and in-laws at the Nallalam police station.
