NEW DELHI: Simran Shergill hammered five goals as Himalayan Horse/Equisport powered to an 11-4 victory over Sahgal Stud in the inaugural match of the Reid and Taylor Indian Open polo championship here on Wednesday. Abhimanyu Pathak, Akhil Sirohi and Adhiraj Singh scored two goals each for the winner. Gaurav Sahgal and Manupal Godara scored two goals apiece for Sahgal Stud which was unable to add more than a goal in the second half of the match after having trailed 3-6 by the end of the second chukkar. In fact, the match was evenly poised only in the second and third chukkars, as Himalayan Horse ran away to a brisk start and a smart finish to eventually overwhelm its opponent. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
