Airport security stepped up

Nedumbassery: The security network at the Cochin international airport has been strengthened from Wednesday in the wake of a high alert sounded by the BCAS, the apex agency for airport security in the country, following reports of possible terror strikes at the airports in the country on the anniversary of the Babri Masjid episode on December 6.

The airport officials said that a security meeting by the various security agencies was convened at the airport on Tuesday evening to evaluate the security apparatus at the airport. A special instruction had been passed on to thoroughly inspect the passengers who arrive here during the next three days of 4, 5, and 6. The agencies like Quick Reaction Team, CISF, dog squad were also put on high alert.

The passengers would be checked at three points including the entry point and at the ladder point.
