Fuel surcharge removed

Staff Reporter

Bangalore: Sri Lankan Airlines has removed its fuel surcharge on fares on almost its entire route network with effect from January 1, 2009, in order to pass on the benefits of reduced fuel prices to passengers on short-haul and medium-haul destinations.

These include cities in India and West Asia and Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Beijing, Male and Karachi. The surcharge was introduced in July when fuel prices reached a record $147 a barrel of crude. They have declined considerably in recent months.
