Applications for power supply cleared

CHENNAI: The State Load Despatch Centre, an arm of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB), has cleared applications of about 50 cases for receiving supply from a private power producer under the system of open access.

The aggregate connected load sought was 53 megawatt (MW), an official said. The State government, last month, decided to allow third party sale of power by private producers with some conditions. Applications have been received for purchasing power from biomass plants and sugar cogeneration units. They are under examination, the official said. — Special Correspondent
