BHUBANESWAR: The State government has decided to provide uniform to ASHAs (Accredited Social Health Activists), who were appointed to complement overstressed ANM (Auxiliary Nurse Midwife) in rural pockets. The uniform, which would facilitate their better identity and recognition in the field, would be distributed in special functions to be organised at block-level on January 1, 2009, said State mission of National Rural Health Mission (NRHM), which was the implementing agency. “Necessary instructions have been issued to all the districts in this regards,” said Sushil Kumar Lohani, mission director of NRHM.
