TDP leader challenges YSR

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam leader, Satish Reddy, who contested against the Chief Minister, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy from Pulivendula in 2004 Assembly elections, on Thursday challenged the latter to prove that he was involved in the murder of his father Y. S. Raja Reddy.

Mr. Satish Reddy, who was in the Assembly lobbies when the Chief Minister referred to his involvement during a debate in the House, said he was surprised by the charge as the CBCID had removed his name from the list of the accused after a thorough inquiry. If the Chief Minister so desired he could have challenged it in a court. “Dr. Reddy has no faith in democracy and thinks Pulivendula is his and his family’s empire and resorts to vengeful politics,” he added. Meanwhile, at a separate press conference, the leader of the Opposition, N. Chandrababu Naidu, said Dr. Reddy had conveniently ignored mentioning why his father was targeted and referred to a report prepared by the Andhra Pradesh Civil Liberties Committee listing out the incidents involving the family.
