Bharathi, Aditya win

MANGALORE: R. Bharathi of Tamil Nadu and Aditya Udeshi of Maharashtra won the boys and girls’ titles respectively in the National sub-junior chess championship that concluded, here on Thursday.

Bharathi enjoyed a two-pawn plus situation in a Queen and pawn ending, but agreed for draw in 44 moves against Sukanya Dutta of West Bengal. Bharathi secured the title with 8.5 point.

Corrections and Clarifications

A chess report (as published in the Bangalore edition) "Bharathi, Aditya win" ("Sport", December 5, 2008) said R. Bharathi of Tamil Nadu and Aditya Udeshi of Maharashtra won the boys and girls' titles respectively in the National sub-junior chess championship that concluded in Mangalore recently. It should have been R. Bharathi and Aditya Udeshi won the girls and boys' titles respectively!
