NEW DELHI: Four goals by Ransher Singh guided Sona Polo to a 7-6 victory over Army in the Reid and Taylor Indian Open polo championship at the Jaipur Polo ground here on Thursday. A flurry of goals, particularly from Ransher in the third chukkar, saw Sona Polo race ahead to a 7-5 lead after the teams had been on par at 4-4. Army tried hard in the fourth and final chukkar but could not do much except bridge the gap to one goal. Agad Kalaan (2) and Uday Kalaan were the other scorers for the winning team. G.S. Pandher, Ravi Rathore and Samir Suhag scored two goals each for the Army, which had led 2-1 and 4-3 at the end of the first and second chukkars. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
