Widows of policemen who died on duty call on YSR

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Widows of policemen who died on duty from four north Telangana districts called on Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy in the Assembly lobbies on Friday seeking financial benefits that would have accrued to them had their spouses been alive.

They informed Dr. Reddy that they were merely getting the last pay drawn by their husbands when they were killed while on duty.

They were neither getting the annual hike in Dearness Allowance nor other increments.

Some of them complained to Dr. Reddy that the lump sum amount promised to them under the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund was not released to them for years.

Dr. Reddy promised to resolve their problems by convening an officials’ meeting. The widows of policemen were accompanied by Vaidya Vidhana Parishad Minister Vanama Venkateswara Rao and Congress MLA Konda Surekha.
