‘Gana Gandharvam’ on DD

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad Doordarshan Kendra will telecast a programme on classical music, ‘Gana Gandharvam’, every Friday at 8 p.m. and repeat the telecast on Sundays at 10 a.m. on Doordarshan Saptagiri to encourage singing in the style and in order to keep classical music alive.

An official release stated that the innovative series would be a treat for music lovers and bring in an awakening among youth to pursue singing.

Young singers, who show flair for songs based on ragas, would be given preference. Gopika Poornima, a well-known film playback singer and classical musician, will be the anchor.
