Ilayabharatham posts two wins

Coimbatore: Ilayabharatham Sports Club, the youngest side in the tournament, won both its matches in the NDFA-Riverside Public School third division football league at the HADP Stadium here on Saturday.

Ilayabharatham notched up a 4-2 win over Rallis Recreation Club. It followed it up with a 2-0 win over Sporting Warriors later in the day.

The results: League: Ilayabharatham 4 bt Rallis RC 2; Sandrock SC 2 bt Vigneswara SC 0; Riders SC 2 bt Yankees SC 1; Rainbow FC 5 bt Sporting Union 2; Ilayabharatham 2 bt Sporting Warriors 0.

The ninth Chander memorial rally for two and four-wheelers will be flagged off from the Coimbatore Auto Sports Club (CASC) on December 21.

The rally, conducted in memory of rallyist M.K. Chander and sponsored by his family, will be run on a Time, Speed & Distance format.

The rally will cover a distance of approximately 140km with the maximum average speed of 45kmph and the minimum 20kmph through crowded areas. There will be secret check points en route to monitor speed. Every second is liable for penalty, be it late or early.

This year there will also be a separate class for students. The driver must hold a valid licence and the crew members must also be students.

The mandatory safety checks (pre-event scrutiny) and compulsory drivers’ briefings will be held at the Auto Sports Club on December 20 at 6 p.m.
