Punjab, Rajasthan in command

VISAKHAPATNAM: Punjab and Rajasthan were in command over their rivals Vidarbha and Andhra respectively at the end of the third day of their four-day Cooch Behar trophy under-19 elite group matches here on Saturday.

At the Zinc stadium, Kunwar Raina (154, 25x4) and Perry Goel (131, 25x4, 1x6) were involved in a 221-run opening stand as Punjab declared its first innings at 473 for six after gaining a first innings lead of 200 runs. Vidarbha was 41 for two at stumps.

At the Port stadium, Andhra was fighting with its back to the wall at 259 for eight in reply to Rajasthan’s first innings total of 424. M. Ajay Kumar (51 batting) and B. Sudhakar (46 batting) were involved in an unbroken stand of 89 runs for the ninth wicket to lend respectability to Andhra innings.

The scores: At Visakhapatnam: Vidarbha 273 and 41 for two in 22.1 overs vs Punjab 473 for six decl. (Kunwar Raina 154, Perry Goel 131, Sharad Lamba 81).

Rajasthan 424 vs Andhra 259 for eight in 112.5 overs (M. Ajay Kumar 51 batting, B. Sudhakar 46 batting, Gourav Sharma three for 35).

At Chennai: Baroda 285 and 180 for three in 43 overs (Kedar Devdhar 73, Aditya Reddy 33, Swapnil Singh 41, J.D. Unadkat three for 34) vs Saurashtra 138 in 95.4 overs (P.I. Solanki 33, Swapnil Singh five for 41).

At Bangalore: Haryana 289 in 90.2 overs and 251 in 81.2 overs (Mukul Dagar 105, Jayant Yadav 59, Bikram Chetry four for 53) vs Assam 166 in 48.4 overs and 182 for four in 52 overs (Amit Sinha 75, Rishav Das 42 n.o.).

Bengal 175 in 50 overs and 230 in 75 overs (Sudip Chatterjee 72, Satyabrata Murmu 43) vs Himachal Pradesh 169 in 68.3 overs and 173 for four in 65 overs (Rishi Dhawan 76, Jarnail Singh 45).
