Reaching out: Police Commissioner M.N. Manjunatha and Principal of Loyola College Chennai, Rev. Fr. Albert Muthumalai S.J distributing assistance at Vannarpet in Palayamkottai on Sunday. TIRUNELVELI: Welfare measures worth Rs. 75,000 were disbursed to the poor, orphans, lepers, abandoned senior citizens and the AIDS patients and their children here on Sunday in memory of Mother Teresa. Welfare measuresPrincipal of Loyola College, Chennai Rev. Fr. Albert Muthumalai SJ and the Tirunelveli City Commissioner of Police, M.N. Manjunatha handed over the welfare measures including medical assistance to the children of 50 HIV positive patients. New clothes to 200 orphan children, uniform to 100 physically challenged students, 5 sewing machines, marriage assistance of Rs. 10,000 to a woman, bicycle to a poor family, new clothes to 54 HIV positive patients and prizes to meritorious SSLC and Plus Two students of government schools also formed part of the welfare assistance distributed. Priests Antony Samy, Johnson, Selvaraj and Aloysius Durairaj, founder of Mayan Builders Ramesh Raja and others spoke. Organiser of the function L. Xavier Rajan welcomed the gathering.
