ALIGARH: Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) defeated Delhi on the basis of the first innings lead to win the North Zone inter-university cricket championship here on Sunday. Resuming the final day at 149 for one, AMU crashed to Sparsh Jain’s incisive bowling (eight for 65). Set a target of 297, Delhi finished at 127 for seven in 25 overs. Asif Intizar was declared the ‘man of the match’ and also the ‘best all-rounder’ of the tournament while Mohammad Fazil was adjudged the ‘best batsman’. The best bowler’s award went to Mohammad Mansoor. For Delhi, consolation came in the form of individual honours to Puneet Mehra (best fielder) and Rahul Yadav (best wicketkeeper).
