Misuse of BIS trademark

CHENNAI: The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has launched prosecution proceedings against a Namakkal-based cement manufacturer for misusing the BIS trademark.

A press note stated that the violation of the ISI mark was detected during a raid on the premises of M/s New Chennai Cements (P) Ltd at Dhevanampalayam. Subsequently, a Namakkal court slapped a penalty of Rs.40,000 on the firm. — Special Correspondent
