Three hurt in jail clash

Staff Reporter

KOZHIKODE: Three inmates of the Kozhikode District Jail were hospitalised on Tuesday for injuries suffered in a group clash over supply of water for the morning bath.

A Marad remand prisoner was in charge of operating the pump and an argument had reportedly ensued on Monday evening on the supply of adequate quantity of water for bathing. The issue had spilled over this morning, and was allegedly the reason for the tussle. In the clash between a group of Marad remand prisoners and another group, three were injured. The authorities intervened and settled the quarrel.

The injured were admitted to the Beach Hospital. Two have since been discharged.
