Mudhra Fine Arts festival to be on till January 11 presenting the best of Carnatic music, dance and traditional theatre CHENNAI: Carnatic musician Madurai T.N.Seshagopalan was presented with the 14th Mudhra Fine Arts Award at the inauguration of the fine arts festival here recently. Madras University Vice-Chancellor S.Ramachandran inaugurated the festival which will be on till January 11. Speaking on the occasion, Mr.Ramachandran appreciated the cultural movement spearheaded by Mudhra Bhaskar and Radha Bhaskar, founders of Mudhra. Mr.Bhaskar said this movement was meant to modify the taste of the audience and that the festival itself presented the best of what Carnatic music, dance and traditional theatre had to offer. He said Mudhra had taken the initiative of motivating Corporation school children to enrol for fine arts training with assistance from Lion’s Club to develop their interest in this area.
