Triple for Parminder

LUDHIANA: Parminder Kaur of Chandigarh won a triple crown, whiel Vilasier Khate of Haryana won two in the AITA super series junior tennis tournament at the Harvest Tennis Academy, Jassowal, here on Thursday.

The results:

Boys: Under-16: Singles: Final: Saurabh Patil bt A. Nikhit Prasad 6-1, 6-2; Semifinals: Saurabh bt S.M. Abdullah 6-0, 6-1. Doubles: Final: Abhimanyu Singh & Vilasier Khate bt Harry Jindal & S.M. Abdullah 6-7(5), 6-1, 10-4.

Under-14: Final: Vilasier Khate bt Rishab Dev 7-5, 6-2.

Girls: Under-16: Singles: Final: Parminder Kaur bt Smriti Joon 6-0, 7-5; Semifinals: Smriti bt Rutuja Bhosale 6-3, 6-4; Parminder bt K. Bhuvana 7-5, 6-2. Doubles: Final: Parminder Kaur & K. Bhuvana bt Smriti Joon & Harnoor Kaur Mann 6-4, 6-3.

Under-14: Final: Parminder Kaur w/o K. Bhuvana.

Aniket, Neha top seeds

Aniket Koparkar (Maharashtra) and Neha Aggarwal (Delhi) have been named top seeds in the Youth boys’ and girls’ sections of the National ranking table tennis (North) championship here.

On the opening day of the five-day competition on Thursday, when only the qualifying rounds were scheduled, seven boys and an equal number of girls qualified for the main draw of the sub-junior section.

Saurav Ghosh, Subhendu Shah, Aditya Moitra, Pathikrit Roy (all West Bengal), S. Siddharth (Tamil Nadu), Shreya K. Telang (Karnataka) and Piyush Prasad (Delhi) were the qualifiers in the sub-junior boys section.

Those who advanced in the sub-junior girls category were, Sanika Divekar, Rutuja Khopkar, Shrin Inamdar (Maharashtra), Helly Shah (Gujarat), Rimpa Pal (West Bengal), Ayushi Singh (UP) and Ankita Ghosh (North Bengal).

The seedings: Youth Boys: 1. Aniket Koparkar (Mah), 2. Devesh Karia (PSPBA), 3. Sanil Shetty (Mah), 4. Aman Baglu (Mah), 5. Soumyajit Ghosh (North Bengal), 6. G. Sathiyan (TN), 7. Shubham Sharma (AP), 8. Arpit Bhopalkar (MP).
