Tanaya excels again

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Tanaya Kulkarani (Maharashtra) was the star performer for the second day running as the 22nd National sub-junior gymnastics championships concluded here on Thursday.

The pint-sized Maharashtra girl, who had won the individual all-around title on Wednesday with a superb performance, was simply unbeatable as she picked up two gold medals on the final day of the five-day event.

Competing in the floor exercises, Tanaya finished on top of the field with 14.850 points having earlier picked up the uneven bars title by scoring 13.800 points.

The other two gold medals of the day went in favour of Bengal with Payal Bhattacharjee and Mandira Hazra Chowdhary winning the vault and beam event respectively.

The KSSC president, T.P. Dasan, gave away the trophies and medals.
