Jaya outwits Bhavya

GURGAON: Delhi girl Jaya Bhandary fought her way past Bhavya Wadhawan of Chandigarh 6-7(6), 7-6(6), 10-6 in the girls pre-quarterfinals of the National under-12 tennis championship at the NTA Complex here on Thursday.

In another match in the same event, Pragati Nataraj of Tamil Nadu knocked out the third-seeded Ojasvinee Singh of Madhya Pradesh 7-5, 6-4.

In the boys’ event, Zoremsanga continued with his fine run and made the semifinals. He will challenge the top-seeded Shailender Boniface.

Under-12 boys (quarterfinals): Shailender Boniface bt Ishaque Eqbal 6-1, 6-1; H.T. Zoremsanga bt Sayam Sagarraj 6-2, 6-2; Fatehdeep Singh bt Sachin Kumar 6-4, 6-0; Jatinder Singh bt Prashant Choudhary 6-1, 6-1.
