Works for Samathuvapuram begin in Elachipalayam

NAMAKKAL: The construction of a new Samathuvapuram at Agaram panchayat in Elachipalayam block in the district has begun on Friday.

One hundred houses will be built in the Samathuvapuram, Deputy Speaker of State Assembly V.P. Duraisamy said after performing the bhoomi pooja and inaugurating the construction work in the presence of Namakkal Collector U. Sagayam.

Mr. Duraisamy said the State Government introduced this concept to promote harmonious social environment and peaceful coexistence.

The nine-acre land for the new Samauthuvapuram was acquired from the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment Department for Rs. 6.26 lakh.

Each house would be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 1.69 lakh. All necessary basic amenities including access roads, overhead water tanks, water supply provisions, fair price shop and street lights would be created.

Beneficiaries

Forty people belonging to scheduled caste/scheduled tribe, 25 people belonging to backward class and most backward class and 10 people from other communities would be allotted houses in the Samathuvapuram, he said.

Rasipuram MLA K.P. Ramasamy, District Revenue Officer G. Govindaraj, District Rural Development Agency Project Officer Samuel Inbadurai and senior officials were present.
