Two arrested on charges of jewellery theft in Krishnagiri

KRISHNAGIRI: The Krishnagiri Taluk Police arrested two persons and recovered from them Rs. 30 lakh worth jewellery on Thursday.

The arrested were Siva of Hosur and Selvam of Tiruchi.

According to the police, the two were arrested when they were moving around in a suspicious manner near the Madina Masjid at Periyar Nagar junction.

Investigations revealed that the two were involved in chain snatching incidents at Senthil Nagar, R.S. Lakshmipuram, Jakkappan Nagar and many areas in Krishnagiri.

Special team

Deputy Superintendent of Police M. Murugesan told reporters on Thursday that following complaints of thefts, a special team under Taluk Police Inspector V. Kathirvelu was formed.

The team went to Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Vellore, Coimbatore, Tiruchi and Hosur.

The team finally arrested the two in Krishnagiri.

Superintendent of Police Anisha Hussein congratulated the police team involved in the investigation, according to a press release.
