HYDERABAD: The Sultan Bazar police on Friday registered a criminal case against the GHMC officials responsible for demolishing the wall of a temple at Koti that led to a series of violent incidents. Section 295 (injuring or defiling a place of worship with intent to insult religion or any class) of Indian Penal Code was invoked against the GHMC in the wall demolition case. Seven more cases, six pertaining to damaging APSRTC buses by mobs of youths protesting the wall demolition and another in connection with the stabbing of a youth by an unidentified person near Sultan Bazar, were also registered by the police. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
