Andhra Pradesh - Vijayawada

Ensure final voter list is error-free, says TDP

Staff Reporter

VIJAYAWADA: Finding fault with the Election Commission authorities for issuing draft electoral rolls with errors, vice-president of the Telugu Desam Party’s urban unit Katragadda Nagamalleswara Rao alias Babu on Sunday said that despite several agitations staged by the political parties, the Commission issued the rolls in its usual style.

In a statement here, Mr. Babu said that only the Election Commission authorities could distribute votes in four different polling booths to four members of a family. There was no dearth of multiple entries and many voters had their names in the rolls of more than two booths.

Citing examples, Mr. Babu said that in polling booth number 174 of the Vijayawada East Assembly constituency, the names of 18 voters were repeated and the names of 47 voters were included in the list of polling booth number 176.

The vote of Konanki Rajaiah, a resident of door number 41-28/3-1, was included in polling booth number 175, while his wife Peddakka’s vote was in booth number 174 and the vote of their son Venkata Narasayya in booth number 176. Mr. Babu demanded that the Commission take utmost care while issuing the final list and ensure that all votes from the families residing in one door number were registered in one particular booth.
