Gita Jayanti concludes

Sri Gita Jayanti Sobha Yatra being taken out on the Beach Road in the city on Sunday.

VISAKHAPATNAM: Sri Gita Prachara Samithi on Sunday evening took out a Sobha Yatra to mark the conclusion of 5,147 Gita Jayanti celebrations. A large number of devotees, members of various spiritual organisations and educational institutions participated with fervour reciting the ‘Gita’ and the ‘Vishnusahasranama’ and by Govindanama Sankirtana.

Industrialist Mattapalli Chalamayya flagged off the yatra from the Annamacharya Mantapam at the Kursura Submarine museum.

Trustee of Sri Bhavatharini Charitable Trust Sudeep Kumar Banerjee who addressed the valedictory at the Kali Matha temple stressed the importance of reciting the Gita everyday. Mementoes were given away to the donors who had helped in the conduct of the Gita Jayanthi and the scholars who gave discourses during the programme. Celebration Committee president Y. Krishna Murthy, secretary B.V. Neelayya, treasurer B. Jaganmohana Rao and convener M.V. Rajsekhar participated.

The six-day Gita Jayanti started with abhishekams on December 9. Malla Vijaya Prasad of Wellfare Group of Companies and Mavoori Venkataramana of CMR Shopping Mall contributed for the conduct of the jayanthi.

The yatra was taken out rendering bhajans and distributing ‘prasadam.’ The recitation of the Bhagavadgita by Ghanatalsa was played all along.
