VIRUDHUNAGAR: Collector K.Raghupathi appealed to the public to pay taxes in time which would help the local bodies to take up development works at a faster pace.

Speaking at the grievances redressal meeting organised at Panthalkudi panchayat union office in Aruppukottai, he said that prompt payment of taxes such as property tax, road tax and water tax would facilitate authorities to execute the works swiftly.

State Handlooms and Backward Classes Minister K.K.S.S.R.Ramachandran said that the government had taken note of the need for providing drinking water to the area.

Soon, the residents would get potable water as the Rs.250-crore Tambirabarani water scheme was underway.

The Minister received around 300 petitions from the public and directed the officials to look into the grievances.
