CHENNAI: The State government would support any organisation coming forward to conduct job fairs or offer jobs to unemployed, Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi said here on Monday. Refuting allegations that a political party was not allowed to conduct a job fair, he said he supported the concept. This was the reason for the DMK itself to organise such fairs and get employment for about 50,000 job seekers. The Hindu had documented this in an article. Hence, if anyone came forward to organise such job fairs, the government would render all help. It would not prevent anyone from holding such fairs since if unemployment grew, it would not favour any government. ReservationOn the reservation for Arundhatiyars within the existing quota of reservation for Scheduled Castes, he said a law would be enacted soon. On the question of reservation for Dalit Christians, he said this demand had already been made in the past. The government, having realised it as a just demand, had written to the Centre in 2006 itself, recommending reservation for Dalit Christians. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
