Maharashtra draws with Railways

CRUCIAL KNOCK: Piyush Chawla’s knock clinched Uttar Pradesh’s first-innings lead over Karnataka.

CHENNAI: Set 303 to win by Railways, Maharashtra finished the fourth and final day’s play of its Ranji Trophy super league match at Ratnagiri on Monday at 251 for five, gaining three points for its first innings lead.

Kedar Jadhav remained unbeaten on 114.

Punjab galloped to a nine-wicket win over host Hyderabad, overhauling its target of 209 in just 36.2 overs, with Sunny Sohal and Ravi Inder Singh putting on an unbroken 197 for the second wicket.

Leg-spinner Sarabjit Singh got his maiden first class five-for in triggering Hyderabad’s collapse.

Shikhar Dhawan made a 62-ball 84 to help Delhi complete a 10-wicket win over Saurashtra at Rajkot.

U.P. gains lead

Uttar Pradesh overhauled Karnataka’s first innings total of 511 in a drawn game at Bangalore, with Piyush Chawla adding a 113-ball 96 to the centuries scored by Tanmay Srivastava and Mohammad Kaif.
