JD(S) candidate criticises Deshpande

Karwar: If defeating Fisheries Minister and BJP candidate Anand Asnotikar in Karwar is KPCC president R.V. Deshpande’s aim, he should withdraw Congress candidate Satish Sail from the fray, said Devidas Gaonkar, JD(S) candidate from Karwar.

At a press conference here on Tuesday, he accused Mr. Deshpande of spreading rumours that the JD(S) candidate had withdrawn from the fray. He alleged that Mr. Deshpande had approached State Samajwadi Party president S. Bangarappa and requested him to pressure JD(S) leader H.D Deve Gowda to withdraw the JD(S) candidate from Karwar. — Correspondent
