Cine actor Sarada addressing students of Sri Durga Malleswara Siddhartha Mahila Kalasala in Vijayawada on Tuesday. VIJAYAWADA: Cine artiste Sarada has cautioned the youth against getting carried away by films and trying to imitate their matinee idols in everyday life. “What we do on screen is mere acting. You must not forget that. Don’t take films too seriously and don’t try to link cinema and life,” she said, addressing a meeting on ‘women empowerment’ jointly organised by the junior and degree wings of Sri Durga Malleswara Siddhartha Mahila Kalasala. Emphasising that the future of the nation depended much on the youth, Ms. Sarada called upon the youngsters to have a clear goal and vision coupled with a burning desire to achieve them. A mature and proper way of thinking could make all the difference, she said. Down memory laneEncouraged by the response of the boisterous crowd that continuously cheered her, the actor went down memory lane and disclosed to the students that she was no less active than them in her youthful days in Tenali. “I used to indulge in lot of pranks and mischief. But when I saw many friends talking about becoming something in their life, I too decided to become an actor. Thanks to encouragement from my parents, I could realise my ambition,” she said. Ms. Sarada suggested to girls not to compete with men in every aspect of life, as what was more important for them was to stand on their own legs in life with good education. Admiring the vast lush green campus of the college, the actor likened the institution to a “holy Tulsi plant.” Patron of arts Putta Jagan Mohana Rao, a relative of Ms. Sarada, along with his wife Putta Raja Kumari, Siddhartha Academy of General and Technical Education treasurer and college convenor P. Lakshmana Rao, degree college principal J. Vasantha Kumari and junior college principal T. Asha Rani were present. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
