KOCHI: The Boat India ’08 event concluded on Tuesday with papers being presented on the leisure and sports opportunities in boating and yachting.

Organised by Marine Biz TV and Aries Marine, the programme saw boating enthusiasts from different parts converge on Kochi to take part in the discussions and to view the exhibits that included a couple of yachts. On Tuesday, experts spoke on leisure boating — emerging markets and market trends in India; marketing and international opportunities for boat manufacturers — the Indian context and other related subjects. Sohan Roy, CEO, Marine BizTV and Aries Group of Companies was among those who spoke.

A big solar boat, Bayliner of Navnit Marine was among those which were lined up in the marina of Hotel Taj Residency, the venue of the deliberations. The introduction of digi booth at the stalls was a unique feature.

It is a technological concept to offer simplified business solutions right on the show floor.

On Monday, both the conference and Boat India Expo, the premier boating and lifestyle exhibition were inaugurated by Gulu Lalvani, founder and chairman of Binatone. The first phase of his marina project in Thailand has been completed.
