James Boy Singh shines

BANGALORE: James Boy Singh, for the second day running, thwarted a Services sweep of the titles in the men’s canoeing event of the 19th Kayaking and Canoeing national championship at the Trishna Club here on Wednesday, claiming the 500m gold.

James, clocking 1:59.43 seconds, beat SSCB’s Amarjit Singh to the top spot.

In the kayaking 500m final, SSCB’s D.S. Negi avenged his loss in the 1000m pushing the Chandigarh lad Ching Ching to the second spot.

Kerala’s Minimol K. and Jesseymol claimed ther top spot in the women’s K-2 category, winning in 2:05.34 seconds ahead of Manipur’s L. Bonny Devi and A. Nanao Devi (2:06.79 secs).
