VIRUDHUNAGAR: A total of 1,82,923 children up to the age of 5 years would be immunised against polio on December 21 and February 1. In a statement Collector K. Raghupathy said that the children would be vaccinated at 1,067 centres in Virudhunagar and Sivakasi health unit districts. The centres would function in noon-meal centres, schools, primary health centres, municipal hospitals. Besides health workers, noon-meal workers, National Cadet Corps, volunteers of National Service Scheme and voluntary organisations, would be employed to carry out the immunisation work. Indelible marks would be affixed on the left little finger of the children after administering polio drops. Door-to-door verificationTwo days after both the immunisation days, health workers would make a door-to-door verification to identify the left out children and administer them polio drops.
