Woman relieved of chain

TAMBARAM: Two men snatched a gold chain from a 26-year-old woman near her house in Purushothaman Nagar near Tambaram on Wednesday.

The Chitlapakkam police, who are investigating, said Mahalakshmi, a resident of Purushothaman Nagar Fourth Street, was walking towards her house along with a friend and with her mother walking ahead of her.

As they were approaching Pachaiyappan Street, a man rushed towards her, snatched the gold chain that Mahalakshmi was wearing and fled on a motorcycle with his accomplice riding it.

Listening to her cries for help, some of the residents in the area came to the spot, but the men had vanished.

The woman got married about six months ago and her gold chain weighed nearly five sovereigns, the police said.
