A chance to participate in Saarang

CHENNAI: Here is a chance to participate in what could easily be one of India’s biggest college fests. Saarang, IIT’s annual fest, is round the corner again and there are numerous opportunities to participate in Saarang 2009, even win some goodies.

If you are a regular at gTalk you are probably used to this anyway. Just convert your ability to write catchy status messages to win tickets to the Opeth show at Saarang 2009. Opeth, the Swedish heavy metal band, will be performing on January 25, 2009 and all you have to do to be there is to come up with a status message that features the words ‘Saarang’ and ‘Opeth.’ This contest is open over the coming weekend — December 20/21. Participants are requested to add gtalkstatus@saarang.org to their gTalk ids.

That is not all. If you think you are the biggest Opeth fan ever, let the guys at Saarang know why. If they are convinced, they promise you that they will make sure Opeth hears of it too.

The winning message will be printed on a T-shirt and gifted to Opeth as a souvenir from India. You also win two tickets to the concert and get to watch your favourite band in action. Mail responses (20 words only) to opeth@saarang.org before 15th January 2009.

Saarang 2009, which has partnered with The Hindu, is also inviting everyone who has ever been at the event, to share their Saarang experiences. Send a neat 1000-word piece to lotcanhappen@saarang.org and you stand a chance to win Saarang goodies and free passes for any show of your choice at Saarang.

Every week, the winner of the best entry will win a Saarang T-shirt and 2 passes to any pro-show of his or her choice at Saarang 2009. The winning entry will be put up on the Saarang blog — blog.saarang.org
