A.R.Ansari CUDDALORE: A.R.Ansari, presently Director (Planning and Projects) of the Neyveli Lignite Corporation Limited (NLC), has taken charge as Chairman-cum- Managing Director of the company on Wednesday. Born on July 1, 1952 in an agricultural family, Mr Ansari obtained B.Sc (Honours.) in mining engineering from the Indian School of Mines at Dhanbad in 1973, according to a statement from the NLC. It further stated that Mr. Ansari joined the NLC as General Manager (Mines) on September 1, 1997 after serving various organisations such as the National Mineral Development Corporation, the Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Ltd and in the Middle East. Subsequently, he rose to the level of Chief General Manager (Mines) in the NLC. He was instrumental in completion of two projects — Mine-I Expansion and Mine-IA within the scheduled time and cost. He was elevated to the position of Director (Planning and Projects) on September 19, 2003. During his tenure as Director (Planning and Projects) new projects like Mine-II Expansion and Thermal Power-II Expansion at Neyveli, an integrated mine-cum-power project at Barsingsar in Rajasthan, the Tuticorin thermal power project, a joint venture company with the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board, were cleared by the Centre. All these projects are under implementation. He is also the administrative head of the Barsingsar project. Under his leadership the NLC has spread its activities to other States such as Orissa, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and at Jayamkondam in Tamil Nadu. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
