More staff to distribute flood relief

CHENNAI: The State government will employ additional staff for distributing solatium to flood-hit people in the city on Saturdays and Sundays.

It has been estimated that approximately 7.5 lakh families have been affected. As on Thursday (December 18), relief amounting to Rs.77.81 crore has been disbursed to around 3.89 lakh families. The Chennai Collector has taken steps for covering the remaining families, according to an official release. — Special Correspondent
