NEW DELHI: Digital technology major Samsung on Friday launched a comprehensive range of notebook PCs and a sleek netbook. While the notebooks are priced between Rs. 34,000 and Rs. 1.15 lakh, the stylish netbook with 10.2 inch wide LED display comes with a price tag of Rs. 28,000.

Unveiling the new products, Samsung India Director (IT) R. S. Yadav said that with its entry into the Indian notebook market, the company, which was hitherto only in the IT peripherals space, was providing a complete PC solution to its customers. “The comprehensive notebook range unveiled reflects our design and manufacturing leadership with up to 75 per cent of its components being manufactured by us,” he added.

“From memory to hard drives to the LCD display and batteries — at Samsung — we control every aspect of each notebook, from its chassis design to its hardware and software integration,” he added. Samsung has launched notebook PCs in different categories — Premium, Thin and Light X Series, Mobile Optimum — Q Series and the mainstream R Series.

Samsung notebooks would be available to consumers through micro retailers as well as large format retail, said Mr. Yadav, and added that “Our focus in the coming year will be to enhance our consumer interface for our IT products. We hope to capture the market share in double digits by 2010.”
